Wildfires across Canada raise alarm due to record smashing heat waves

Unusually high temperature spurred about ninety forest fires across Alberta in the western Canada. Meteorologists described it as “Omega Block”.  This has killed hundreds of people in Canada & U.S. Pacific Northwest. Wildfire in Alberta reminds of 2016 McMurray wildfires, which is considered as costliest natural disaster of Canada.

Warning preparedness meteorologist, Tarry Lang termed it as unusual pattern, which have set up early this year. He also informed that these patterns are usually seen in the summer. He further added that scientists will take months to determine if it is particular weather anomaly that has led to this atmosphere change by the burning of fossil fuels.

Early season wildfires have displaced thousands of people and threatened some oil extraction operations.   

These wildfires may affect global energy prices. Canadian shale operators are forces to halt their operations this month. As per “Rystad Energy”, is independent energy research firm estimation around 240,000 barrels of oil could not be pumped each day as a resultant of these wildfires.  

These fires are also contributing adversely to air quality. Smoke is engulfing parts of North America.

Lang informed that he doesn’t see the end soon.
