One charred to death in devastating Gandhi Nagar fire incident
Delhi: Gandhi Nagar, A devastating fire incident occurred on 5th October 2002. The fire started in Nehru Lane which is a hub of garment and hosiery business. A call of the incident received by fire brigade at 5:40 pm and total 35 fire tenders and 150 firefighters deputed at the spot to fight with fierce fire.
Narrow lanes of the area impeded operations and lack of water source nearby made situations more difficult for the fire fighters. Fire Tenders had to be parked outside from the site.
Later, firefighters on the second floor recovered a male charred body who was reportedly an employee of the shop who got stuck up on the second floor where fire was erupted.
The fire was categorized as medium category.
The continued fire incidents are ringing bell loudly time and again but we as society are oblivion of fire safety norms. Authorities are reluctant to learn from repeated incidents.
It seems to suggest that a proper planning and rigorous implementation out to be performed if we want us safe from such incident.
