Massive Fire at Satpura Bhawan in Bhopal, MP, took more than 17 hours to control

Bhopal (MP): Satpura Bhawan in the capital of Madhya Pradesh witnessed a massive fire incident. The building’s significance can be attributed with the fact that several important government offices are present here including CBI, EOW, Tribal welfare & Health Directorate.

The fire started on Monday evening and continued till Tuesday morning. The fire was first reported on the third floor of the building at around 4 pm, according to fire department. The building was evacuated in time & that is how no causalities reported.

Ashish Singh, District Collector, Bhopal informed ANI that Army & CISF Personnel also intervened to contain fire and on Tuesday morning, mammoth efforts fructified and fire was extinguished. 

According to sources the preliminary cause of fire is suspected due to short circuit in an air conditioning unit on the third floor. Further investigation to ascertain the cause of fire will be done in due time. First priority was to bring fire under control and minimize the damage.

22 fire tenders and 30-40 water tankers were present initially but due to presence of paper and furniture it spread fast. Army, CISF and Airport Authority took charge at around 8:30 pm with sophisticated fire tenders & other equipments. AN-32 aircraft & MO 15 helicopter was dispatched to help to extinguish the fire.

The Chief Minister  Mr. Shivraj Singh Chauhan had telephonic conversation with Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah and Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh apprising them of the situation.

The CM has also constituted a committee to investigate the initial cause of fire incident.
